My Kitchen Essentials – February 2023

Here are the five kitchen items I bought this recently and now use regularly.

Cherry pitter I generally avoid single-use kitchen tools, which I find don’t get used often enough to justify the space they take up in my overflowing kitchen. I found myself making a lot of dishes with cherries last summer so I bought this cherry pitter which I’ve been using for olives recently, perfect for when I accidentally buy pitted olives for dishes like caponata.

Glass bowls I’ve been using stainless steel bowls for years, but recently decided to invest in some glass bowls. I use them almost daily for eggs but they are also great for baking or serving.

Tiny whisk set This 2-piece tiny whisk set from Babish has been my go-to for whisking up eggs or sauces in small bowls this month.

Salad dressing emulsifier This definitely falls into the single use category, but I use it every week now so i think it’s worth the space. I’ve been making a batch of simple salad dressing in this then storing in the fridge.

Mini Spatulas My mini spatula recently broke, so I grabbed this set which feels more durable. I love that it comes in two sizes and is dishwasher safe. I use these for everything from making myself scrambled eggs to scraping mixing bowls.

I’ve also included some of my favorite kitchen items below that I’ve been using for a while and can’t cook without!

Salt, pepper and spices grinder I have had these salt & pepper grinders for several years and low the way they grind. It’s easy to control the grind size and the clear panel helps me see when a refill is due.

Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls Used almost daily in my house, these bowls are perfect for everything from mixing to marinades. I’ve had mine for years and they have held up well.

Thomas Keller Insignia Pans I got these Hestan non-stick pans for Christmas last year and have used them almost everyday since. They are the most durable non-stick pans I’ve ever owned and worth every penny!
