Description

An easy elegant appetizer for any night!

Ingredients

Scale

½ package of Grass Roots Farmers’ Cooperative brats
½ package of thin-cut, good-quality bacon
Sauerkart and mustard for serving
Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Soak toothpicks in a bowl with cold water.
  2. Cook brats until just done either in a cast iron pan or on the grill. Make sure not to overcook since they will cook further with the bacon. Remove from heat and let cool enough so you can handle them.
  3. Cut brats into bite sized pieces.
  4. Wrap each bite sized brat piece with bacon. I needed to cut about ¼ off each piece of bacon but you can judge how thick you want the bacon to be wrapped around yours. Hold the bacon in place with a soaked toothpick.
  5. Now you can cook the bacon wrapped bites on the stove over medium-high heat or in the oven at 400 degrees. I really can’t tell you how long to cook the bacon since I’ve learned everyones likes theirs done differently. I like mine crispy so I cooked about 7 minutes on the stove top, turning frequently.
  6. Serve with sauerkraut and mustard or your other favorite toppings! Enjoy!
